Antelope Butte Ski Area Offers Free Season Passes for Kids Under 18

Skiing is an inherently expensive sport. In an era of unprecedented resort consolidation and the rising cost of just about everything, it feels like the good old, easy-riding days of cheap passes are nothing more than a faded memory. If you live near Dayton, Wyoming, though, you're in luck!

Antelope Butte Ski Area made the surprising and wonderful announcement today that 2024/2025 season passes will be free for kids under 18 on the day of purchase.

“To better support our mission, we have decided to make skiing more accessible and free for anyone under 18 in the country,” said Antelope Butte GM John Devivo. “With this ground-breaking offer, we can open up access to thousands of kids who would not otherwise be able to experience skiing and riding."

You must be thinking, where's the catch? And yes, it's true: most kids can't go skiing without their parents coming along, too. Antelope Butte offers some of the most affordable adult season passes around.

For those 18 years and older, the 24/25 pass pricing structure has been dramatically simplified to a single price of $299, which will increase to $399 on May 1st and top off at $499 on October 1st. A payment plan will be available for all purchases. Under-18 passes will remain free at each price tier.

Per their mission statement, "the Antelope Butte mission promises To provide affordable and accessible year-round mountain recreation, training, and educational opportunities, focusing on youth and beginners."

"This community put in tremendous effort to get this ski area up and running again, and we want to give back with this remarkable opportunity and message of appreciation," added Emerson Scott, Antelope Butte board president.

Donations to the foundation of any size will be possible during the pass sale process. The Antelope Butte Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax-deductible. Any donation exceeding $500 can be divided into six equal payments.

“As a board, we feel our primary obligation as a non-profit ski area is to support youth and the greater community rather than raising prices to build more lifts and expand facilities," said Antelope Butte board member and Indy Pass director Erik Mogensen. "Our mission is not to create a big fancy ski area but to get more people skiing and riding more often. Price is the biggest barrier in skiing right now."
